Sign ‘hello’ to Tanya!

She’s been working at Mobo’s Goolwa Salvage and Save site for more than 10 years, and while she has been here, she’s excelled in the massive range of opportunities she’s had in her employment!

Tanya has a unique case that brought her to meaningful employment at Mobo Group; she lives with legal blindness, deafness, and is non-verbal! Despite all of that, she is determined to communicate with others using Auslan sign language, she is so determined in fact, that she never shies away from servicing any customers who visit our Salvage and Save site in Goolwa!

Alongside her excellent customer service skills, Tanya has also been greatly successful in the woodworking yard at Salvage and Save, taking recycled timber and other materials and building crates and other products for customers.

We’ve been able to help her build valuable skills as part of her employment, but Tanya has taught us even more through helping us learn how to communicate using Auslan sign language! She encourages everyone to learn Auslan so that we can all communicate effectively with the community of people who live with deafness.

Tanya has been smashing through the barriers of what life has handed her and has proved over and over again that no disability can stop her from achieving anything she wants in life. She is so proud of everything she has achieved in her employment – as she should be! We’re really proud of her too, and immensely happy to see her succeed every day.
