Big W-in for Mara

Mara came to our Salisbury Employment Services Office in search of a big win in her journey to find employment. She, like so many others, had little experience, skills and confidence that she could use to gain meaningful work that suited her. To support Mara in gaining more experience, our Mobo Team assisted her in joining our Job Club – a group of like-minded individuals working together and supporting each other to build their confidence and employability skills to find meaningful work in the community.

Mara, like many of our job seekers, has experienced the highs and lows of searching for fulfilling employment in the community. She’s attended many job interviews and received positive feedback from people she has met along the way, but has continually been unsuccessful in her goal of securing employment. Despite the disappointments, Mara always got back on her feet with confidence, determined to find a role that would support her in her needs, and be able to give her the resources she needed to further grow her skills and independence.

Finally, Mara’s big win arrived, with the support from a Mobo Team member, she was invited in for an interview at Big W. Even more exciting was that Mara was successful and was promptly offered consistent shifts over the Christmas period and beyond!

Mara's hard work and positive supports from Mobo have paid off in securing meaningful employment in which she is fully supported and learning new skills at every shift. Mara has been making leaps and bounds, both in excitement and in her journey to becoming the best she can be.
